The Extech MO297 is an all-in-one tool for building inspections, water damage restoration, mold prevention, and HVAC diagnostics. Its pinless moisture sensor detects moisture up to 0.75 inches (19 mm) below the surface without causing damage, while the pinned moisture probe measures moisture from 6–99% in wood and 13–99% in building materials.
In addition to moisture testing, the MO297 measures relative humidity from 0–100% (±2.5–3% accuracy) and air temperature from -20 to 170°F (-29 to 77°C), with a built-in infrared thermometer (-4 to 392°F) featuring an 8:1 distance-to-spot ratio and a 0.95 fixed emissivity. The large dual display can simultaneously show material moisture and air parameters such as temperature, humidity, dew point, vapor pressure, or grains per pound. Its 20-reading internal memory, condensation risk alerts, and min/max data capture make it especially valuable for restoration contractors and industrial hygienists who need fast, reliable field data.
