How to Turn on a Sound Level Meter

Here’s how to turn on your sound level meter:

  1. Once you get your sound probe and take it out of the case, the microphone should be detached.
  2. Gently attach the microphone to the device by turning it until you feel it push in.
  3. Twist the microphone into place to securely attach.
  4. Press and hold the power button until the screen turns on.

Sound Level Meter Calibration

Before using the sound probe, you need to calibrate it. Here’s how:

  1. You should have a calibrator and an adapter that fits onto the microphone.
  2. Hit the CAL button on the device (located on the bottom of the screen).
  3. Turn the calibrator on using the power button and attach it to the microphone.
  4. Wait until you hear a beeping noise that indicates it is ready to be calibrated.
  5. Hit calibrate on the device.
  6. Using the soft keys located under the arrows, adjust to 114.
  7. Hit enter.
  8. To verify it calibrated, it will show you the value along with the date and time.

How to Setup a Sound Level Meter

After you’ve calibrated your sound level meter, you’re ready to do the meter setup. Here’s how:

  1. Go to setup screen.
  2. Change threshold, exchange rate, criterion level, upper limit, and projected time as needed with the soft keys.
  3. Set your frequency rating and response time using the soft keys.
  4. Set the date and time using the soft keys.

How to Use a Sound Decibel Meter

Now you’re ready to use the sound decibel meter. Here are some tips:

  1. Press the run / pause button to enter run mode.
  2. You’ll see the play sign on the upper screen of the device to signify you are in run mode.
  3. When you’re done testing and ready to stop, hit the pause button first, then hold down the stop button.
