About the speaker: D. Gary Brown Dr PH has more than 25 years’ experience in the field of environmental/occupational health and safety spanning both academic and practical fields in the United States and internationally.

He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Registered Sanitarian (RS) and a diplomate of the American Academy of Sanitarians. He is on the staff of the OSHA Training Institute located at EKU, has presented at numerous national and international conferences and universities, and is actively involved with undergraduate student research.

Dr. Brown has a BA in Environmental Studies from SUNY Buffalo, a Masters in Science in  Environmental and Occupational Health from Hunter College, and his Dr PH in Occupational Health and Safety from the University of Alabama Birmingham. He is currently a professor and graduate coordinator of environmental health science at Eastern Kentucky University, and still provides consulting for government and private entities. He is extremely interested in the promotion of the field of environmental/occupational health, industrial hygiene and increasing the number of OEHS majors nationally.

Dr. Brown has twice been president of the Association of Environmental Health Academic Programs, Past President of Kentucky Environmental Health Association,  a founding member of the National Environmental Health Diversity Recruitment Task Force, and was the National Environmental Health Association’s technical advisor on Occupational Health and Safety.
